For the past 15 years, I have registered as part of the Bank of America team for the Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure because I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer. I lost my mom to this disease at a very young age of 52. It pains me that my children Steven and Lindsay didn't have the opportunity to know what a wonderful mother and grandmother she was. I am also re-energized and frustrated that the new man (grandchild) in our lives, Arlo, will not have the warm, caring arms of Hattie to hold him tight. All of the great-grandchildren in her life would be so fortunate to have her with us. This is why I not only registered to participate, but formed a team to help me reach new levels! Our team name is Hattie's Heroes...after my mom. This is our seventh year as a Hattie's Heroes team, and last year we were able to raise over $10,000.00!
As it is my 15th year, I am shooting for a total of $15,000.00 this year! I hope you can help me reach this milestone! This would have meant so much to my mom. I know she is smiling at the idea of making this world a better place as well as bringing a community of loved ones together. The thought of making her proud through contributing to this important cause keeps me motivated! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. If you have a matching gift program with your company, please be sure to submit using our team name (Hattie's Heroes- Renee Spero captain) so we can double the amount raised! For those that work for a company with a matching gift program, once you submit the form through the APPLY FOR MATCHING GIFT option, the form MUST be sent to receive credit. Please click the option Susan G Komen located at 2316 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207 and send it to Renee.Spero@bankofamerica.com and I will forward it on with the others on a regular basis. You can donate online with your credit card by clicking the button above my fundraising thermometer. It takes a village to make this happen! I truly thank you in advance- I long for the day when we can look back and say no other mom, daughter, friend, sister, aunt, niece, grandmother was lost due to this terrible disease.
